New to Management

About Course

Welcome to New to Management – a complete training programme for anyone who wants to grow quickly, confidently and sustainably in their leadership role. The course is designed both for those stepping into their first managerial position, and for leaders who are responsible for introducing and developing new managers within their organisation. Here, you’ll gain solid knowledge as well as plenty of hands-on practice – because leadership truly develops when you try, test and apply it in everyday situations.

The programme combines short lessons, practical exercises, reflection tasks and real-life training in your own workplace. We encourage you to plan walking sessions where you can listen to the lessons in a calm environment, and, if possible, reflect together with another manager or colleague. Some exercises focus on preparation and building new routines, while others go deeper and help you understand yourself – your values, reactions and behaviours. You can only lead others sustainably when you know who you are, and how you think and feel in different situations.

Some activities are meant to be taken directly into your team: group exercises, discussions that create alignment, and tasks that strengthen your collaboration. The aim is not only for you to learn – but also to apply, review and practise again to build habits that last over time.

The content follows the journey most new managers go through:

Trust-based leadership – a foundational module where you learn to build safety, stability and trust within the team, creating the basis for successful leadership.

Coaching conversations – how to strengthen motivation, development and self-leadership through a coaching approach.

Leading through change – the ability to create clarity and reassurance in times of uncertainty, and to help your team find meaning, understanding and manageability when everything is in motion.

Conflict management & difficult conversations – the tools you need to handle conflicts, support employees and lead challenging conversations with professionalism and clarity.

Leading at a distance – how to build presence, structure and strong relationships despite physical distance or digital boundaries.

Motivating your team – the fundamentals of motivation, clarity, shared expectations, positive reinforcement and involving your team in their own development.

Stress management for managers – balancing demands, expectations, recovery and your own wellbeing, while also recognising early signals of stress within the team.

Throughout the programme, the same core principle remains: leadership develops through practice. Let each lesson and exercise become a natural part of your everyday work. Try something small each day – that’s how behaviours shift and genuine leadership grows.

Welcome to the journey!
